Leaving work today I almost ran down Tobias Frere-Jones with my bike. Probably not the best way to introduce yourself to one of your heroes.
Is it weird that a typographer is one of my “heroes”? Is it weird that a typographer can be a hero? Hero looks really good in Gotham.

Since relaunching Wallstrip in late July, we’ve introduced a blog where we post finance-oriented news in small doses.
This past Monday we added a post about the looming Verizon strike. The post was no different from other coverage of the topic on the web. Curiously enough, union workers, varying levels of VZN management, and even a self-proclaimed scab have transformed the post into an all out debate on issues ranging from benefits to the overall disconnect between cubicle culture and those on the street running installations.
So why is this conversation happening on the Wallstrip blog? Compared to other sites who cover the story, Wallstrip is the only site with a commenting system. It’s a simple tool but a crucial one, making the story less about our post and more about the 120+ comments. That’s blogging.
