"F*** off, Microsoft"
We all know Flickr users can be pretty aggressive - they upload photos and interact with each other with an intensity that rivals college coeds on Facebook.
Many Flickr users are outraged by the possibility of a Microsoft buyout of Yahoo! (Yahoo! owns Flickr), and the implications that may have for their favorite photo service. Call them self-centered or just over protective, but Flickr users are voicing their dismay via some aggressive and slightly passive aggressive Photoshopped images.
I say self-centered because really, what effect will Microsoft’s potential buy of Yahoo! have on Flickr? We’ll probably see some integration down the road, but the real reason for the bid is to consolidate all those graphical and text-based ad dollars that both companies are losing to the real monster, Google. While the photographers stick to clever slogans and never pinpoint the real source of anger, the overarching theme is that Flickr users simply don’t trust Microsoft.
