Shoulders of Giants (or at least smart people)

Last night Wallstrip/MobLogic senior producer Scott Solary and I presented at the NY Video 2.0 Meet Up. We demoed our new site MobLogic.tv and that day’s episode, “Tibetan Terrorists”.

Unfortunately some people were offended by the show and others thought we presented nothing notable. Perhaps most significant is the comparison between Hulu’s video presentation and ours.

Us

Them

Just like our distribution strategy, we’re all about ubiquity when it comes to presenting video. We’re not trying to copy or even emulate Hulu so much as take a great idea and build upon it. That’s the point of the web and, despite dissenters looking at us through the lens of a corporation as opposed to a collective of new media producers, the philosophy we believe will push web video in the right direction.

There were also some grumblings as to why we don’t share revenue on ads with blip. I think Scott puts it best: “Isn’t it nice that someone with such a presence as CBS interactive chooses blip instead of some other player? Kind of like FREE advertising for blip.”
